Juliet Lacey

Writer | Data Analyst

I’m Juliet Lacey, a data analyst and part-time MsT student at Cambridge University for AI ethics. My background spans from journalism and nonprofit work to data analysis for LLMs. I currently work as an associate project manager at Meta helping to optimize Facebook search and train GenAI models.

In college, I was an editor for Milkweed Magazine and a leader of the improv comedy group The Throng. I also created and co-hosted a workshop called Writing Across Identity, which you can learn more about here. Outside of school, I worked as a company representative and bookseller at Little City Books. Our social media accounts (Instagram and TikTok) also thrived. As a company representative, I attended events with MacMillan and Hachette publishing houses and edited manuscripts with Edelweiss.

In January of 2022, I began working at Student Sponsor Partners (SSP) in New York City as a Programs Associate. My role included cross-functional data management and analysis as well as pitching and writing the monthly newsletter. In developing strategic communications, I led a mentorship advice series as well as created and produced a video series for our admissions team. For both projects, we met our goal to create accessible information for a multi-faceted client base and increase our social engagement by 45x.

At Meta I've learned SQL and JSON and become a subject matter expert on 15+ labeling workflows for Meta AI. In this role, I have learned how to build and edit guidelines for training data while honing my operational and managerial skills. I have been deeply enjoying merging my interests in writing and tech in this rapidly evolving position.

Most recently, I have accepted an offer to study for my Masters in AI Ethics at Cambridge University where I plan to complete a dissertation about ethically developing humor in Large Language Models, focusing on the creation of practical guidelines.

In my free time I am a playwright with my dear friend and comedy producer Leah Gayle Williams, working on my novel project, playing my guitar, and mentoring a wonderful high school student, Solenny.
